Overview
The Last Rose of Summer Academy offers an intensive and focused program for advanced students of violin, viola, and piano (ages 15+). Set alongside the Last Rose of Summer Festival in Berlin, the Academy combines individual instruction, masterclasses, and performance opportunities in a collaborative environment.

Each participant receives a minimum of six individual lessons during the course. The program is designed to support artistic development at a high level, with particular emphasis on chamber music and collaborative work.
All participants take part in chamber music ensembles. Groups are formed by the faculty, and each ensemble receives multiple coachings. Chamber works will be performed as part of the academy concerts.
Location
Academy concerts take place at the Mendelssohn-Remise in Berlin-Mitte.
Video Audition requirements:
Violin & Viola
- Two contrasting movements from an unaccompanied work by J.S. Bach
- One movement from a standard concerto
Piano
- Two contrasting solo works
Application Form
All applications require video recordings.

Application fee: €60
Tuition:
- Active participant: €1,250
- Passive participant: €400
Tuition does not include accommodation. A list of recommended housing options will be provided upon acceptance.
Fellowship Program
A limited number of fellowships may be awarded to outstanding applicants.
Fellows receive:
- Full tuition waiver
- Accommodation and meals
- Opportunities to perform in festival concerts alongside faculty
Please note that travel expenses are not covered.
Additional Information
The Academy is intentionally limited to a small number of participants in order to ensure an intensive and individualized experience. The program is particularly suited to students preparing for professional careers, competitions, and auditions.
