Professor Judith Ingolfsson

Violinist Judith Ingolfsson has built a distinguished multi-faceted career as a performer and educator. Her extensive performance experience includes solo appearances with orchestras across the globe, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She is also a dedicated chamber musician, collaborating with various ensembles and forming the Duo Ingolfsson-Stoupel with pianist Vladimir Stoupel. Their performances and recordings focus on innovative programming and insightful interpretations, particularly of lesser-known 20th-century works.

Ingolfsson is passionate about teaching and nurturing the next generation of musicians. She serves as Professor of Violin at the prestigious Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and has held previous teaching appointments at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and the University of Colorado Boulder. She regularly conducts masterclasses at music festivals and academies internationally. Her students have won numerous national and international competitions, secured coveted Academy positions with renowned orchestras such as the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin and the Komische Oper Berlin, and have gone on to join the ranks of some of the world's top orchestras, including the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, and the Bamberger Symphoniker.

Beyond her performance and teaching activities, Ingolfsson is an experienced adjudicator, serving on juries for international competitions such as the Astral Artists National Auditions and the Concert Artists Guild Competition. Her perspective as a performer and educator provides valuable insights into identifying and nurturing young talent.

With 13 critically acclaimed recordings to her credit, Ingolfsson's discography showcases her versatility and commitment to exploring a wide range of repertoire. Her recordings have been recognized with awards and nominations, demonstrating her exceptional artistry and musicianship.

Ingolfsson's diverse experiences as a performer and commitment to education inspires her students, and make her a sought after and influential figure in the world of classical music and education.
