Schubertiade
(Voyage d’hiver)
Adagio con moto aux sons graves : mystère ;
Sautillement discret se fondant en torpeur.
Jeune fille luttant contre une ombre trop forte
Imposant sa présence, sa faux, son linceul,
Sublime quatuor dédié à une morte.
Fantaisies, variations, roi des Aulnes, tilleul,
Quintette plein d’espoir évoquant une truite,
Contrebasse endiablée lancée à sa poursuite.
Marc Sagnol
Berlin, Mendelssohn-Remise, janvier 2026
We are so moved by this poem from our dear friend Marc Sagnol, written following our first concert of 2026 at the Mendelssohn-Remise in Berlin. His words perfectly capture the "dramatic tension" of a winter journey and the eventual "happiness" found in the music.
In these troubling times, playing Schubert feels like a necessary refuge. This performance was particularly close to our hearts as our 15-year-old son, Alan Stoupel, joined Vladimir and me on stage to play the viola. Watching him find his voice within the "Forellenquintett" was a moment of pure joy for us.
